Squarciò is a poacher, one of those who fish with bombs; he lives with his family in a house built through his labors and is in conflict with the other fishermen in the village, friends and childhood companions, who are trying to organize themselves into a cooperative. Resolute and anarchic, Squarciò is a character fascinated by the sea and his family, but ultimately alone, caught between his struggles and his risky trade.
