Andrea Damiani, an industrialist from Parma married to Valeria, has a mistress, Giulia, who is determined to get him divorced in order to become his lawful wife. Valeria, for her part, has not yet betrayed him but may do so with the young employee Giovanni, who in her eyes has passed himself off as a count. A series of mishaps and sudden decisions lead to the four of them finding themselves simultaneously on holiday in Courmayeur.
