Paolo Villaggio, the inventor of social satire, was born in Genova in December 31st, 1932. He portrayed the problems of our society with his irreverent and grotesque irony.
On one hand, the stories of his beloved characters teached us honor, on the other one, some sketches let us discover the pessimistic comedy, in which you empathize! It is worth mentioning among the numerous film awards received by Paolo Villaggio: David di Donatello in 1990, the Silver Ribbon in 1992 and the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in 1996. He passed away at the age of 84 on July 3rd, 2017 in Rome.
