Based on as many novellas by Luigi Pirandello, the episodes of the film tell the story of a hunchback trapped in a jar (Pástina), a young mother who begs to buy a fan (Soldati), a jester who obtains an official certificate to make money with his extraordinary qualities (Zampa), and a best man who gets a wedding celebration that risked being postponed (Fabrizi).
